And thats just the privates all of whom are E-1

At 2:02am on April 28, 2009, Bruce Mayhugh said…: Officers in the British, Australian, and Canadian Armies. 01 is the 2nd Lieuteanant (pronounced 2nd Leftenant) also called Ensign (In-sign) or Subaltern.
02 is the 1st Lieutenant (normally called Leftenant), 03 is Captain, 04 is Major, 05 is Lieutenant Colonel (highest rank in an infantry battalion. The honorary Colonel of the Regiment/Battalion is Her Majisty the Queen. Regiments in the British Army are in actuallity only Battalions of around 650 men.In our reenactment group it normally takes one of our people about 1-2 years to make Lance Corporal,about 5 to rise to Serjeant. I was not promoted to RSM until 2001 and we started in 1987. And only then because I served as the senior NCO for all allied forces for 3 years in a row at the giant WW2 event at Fort Indian Town Gap, PA held in January each year. I started as corporal in 1987. My Officer Commanding (yes it is said right) Major Klapmeier has been appointed Maj from Capt in the last 4 years and we started the unit together. We are an authorized historical reenactment unit of the actual Coldstream Guards, and have assisted in the funeral work for 12 WW2 British Veterans who have passed away here after immigrating here years ago. Britiann's Army structure is nothing like the US. There are only a set number of ranks, but with in each rank are several, sometime many duties called appointments. My rank is a WO1 but my appointment is that of Regimental Serjeant (not mispelled) Major. The basic ranks are PRIVATE E-1(NO RANK EMBLEM), LANCE CORPORAL E-2 (1 CHEVRON), NO E-3, CORPORAL E-4 (2 CHEVRONS), LANCE SERJEANT E-5 (3 CHEVRONS), SERJEANT E-6 (ALSO 3 CHEVRONS), STAFF SERJEANT E-7 (CROWN OVER 3 CHEVRONS, WO2/CALLED SERJEANT MAJOR E-8 (SINGLE LARGE CROWN), WO2 CALLED COMPANY SERJEANT MAJOR E-8 (CROWN WITHIN WREATH) AND LASTLY FOR ENLISTED IS WO1 E-9 (ROYAL CYPHER ARMS W/UNICORN AND LION) OF WHICH THE HIGHEST APPOINTMENT IS REGIMENTAL SERJEANT MAJOR. THERE ARE MORE THAN 200 APPOINTMENTS NONE OF WHICH IS IMPORTANT HERE. ALSO PRIVATES HAVE DIFFERENT TITILES (ALSO NOT IMPORTANT) BUT FOR REFERENCE, ARTILLERYMEN ARE GUNNERS, PRIVATES IN THE GUARDS ARE GUARDSMEN ETC. IT IS VERY COMPLEX BUT DOES NOT NEED TO BE HERE. THE SECOND WILL BE ON OFFICERS.

We had three people get promotions today and it showed us where some of our lower enlisted are doing... where they need to improve and how we can help then do it. It was pretty helpful. Nightmare and Raiden did very, very well too.

We ended up doing two trainings today, Rifleman and Medic, because only 10 people showed up throughout the day.
