I look around here on this site, and I see a lot of teams with great custom made patches. Everything from special forces, to unique team names on the patch. But, what would happen if a airsoft team used a actual military unit that is now in existence, or deactivated and decided to wear their patch as a way of flattery to those who serve or have served?
Now get this...I have actually seen the U.S. Army get involved in some of the cases with the name special forces, or use of a actual special forces tab one particular airsoft team was wearing on their sleeve.
MYSELF, I have no problems with airsoft teams actually wearing military patches on their uniforms. Fact is, I find it kind of nice in a way, that a team that would wear a actual military unit patch on their uniform sleeve as a tribute to those who serve, or have served. But mean while there are people who actually take offense to airsoft teams wearing unit patches...and consider it "posing".
Folks, check this out....personally I think a airsoft team that actually wears a actual military unit patch is a great thing. It inspires other would be players to get into the sport, and it inspires those who are in the sport to set standards for the sport as a whole. And there are other benefits...some other veterans like myself, find it as a compliment to our service. And, there is a very distinct difference from someone who wears a military uniform with decorations to gain free stuff from the VA, and that person never actually served any time in the military, this is called "posing", and some folks wearing a unit patch to go out and airsoft skirmish and wear the patch as a way to honor those who served.
So, in closing I say this....wear those unit patches with respect, and reverence. And those who are like myself will support those who want to be inspired, and those who want to inspire others from wearing of a military unit patch. Because as we all know, imitation is the most dedicated way tohonor those who serve, or have served.
