Hey folks, I am new to this site and I have noticed a lot of posts from people asking for help in training their teams. I am in the Army with combat experience as infantry/military police, most of my time being spent training or training with foreign militaries and police forces. If anyone has questions regarding tactics or training ideas feel free to ask; if there is a question I am unable to answer I have several other soldiers that can.
hey man thats cool that you were in the military and was wondering i am trying to train my team to have some military trainig and some tactics and wondering if you can help me out
All of these are great but before you try to teach them advanced skills you need to train your team to consistently fight as a TEAM. Many "teams" I have seen in airsoft and paintball as well as the military had excellent individual skills that they had practiced but once they came under fire they became just that: INDIVIDUAL skills. I am sure you have seen the same thing in your experience, watching players "do their own thing" on the playing field resulting in a lot of shooting and running around but very little success. Personally, before I start to train players/soldiers in individual roles I run them through team based scenarios such as squad movement techiques, squad fire suppression, and so on with the main purpose being to teach each individual to rely on the other members of the team. I suggest you start by lining your team up and drawing an imaginary bubble or 360 of security around the entire group then assign each member of the team a section of that bubble to cover. Once your team has that down practice moving as a group to an objective while maintaining that bubble. Practice plans as a group for each scenario you might face, so that on gameday every member of the team knows his role and sticks to it. Ultimately, remember the old military saying: "As an individual I am lethal; as a team we are unstoppable."
yes when my team comes under fire they like to do there own thing half the time we dont know where all are team is another thing some of my members do is say it comes down to two on one the team that has two people left bunch up all close together so the team that has the one person left just has to shoot at one person and he is bound to hit them both so my problem is getting them to work together because one person should be able to pin that one person down while the other flanks him on his bake or side elimenating him instead of them bunching up when there is only one person left am i right is there anything that we as a team can do to fix this any training we could do we leave this weekend to a turrny in KY so any info would help i myself am getting my G.E.D. and going to the marines iv talked to recruitrs already wish me luck iv been waiting for this for a long time keep up the good work soldier
First off, congratulations and good luck in the Corps, listen to the men around you once you get to your unit and you will be ok. Second, yes you need to teach your team how to flank but unless they make it a natural reflex then when they are in that postion without you they will forget it yet again. I suggest that you take your team and split it into two groups, the first group is the suppression team while the second is the flanking team. Tape a target to a tree and have your supression team practice firing short bursts at the target while you flanking team practices using natural cover and concealment (i.e. trees, shrubs, rocks, buildings etc.) to move to the side or blind spot of the target. Once your flanking team is in position your suppression team will shift its fire to the opposite side of the target allowing your flanking team to move in towards the target without getting shot at. Practice it like this a few times and then practice it with a real player as the target until your teams can do it over and over without getting shot by the player or by each other. Once they have it down switch the two teams so that your flanking team gets to practice as the suppression team and vice versa. Once again though, you have to maintain control and communication with every player on your teams so i suggest you have a "team leader" for each group in your team, and equip each team leader with a small radio. Good luck at the tournament!
Hey i started a team and we've all learned the respect, and team work concepts, i was wondering if you could tell me what would be the best methods to train my team on CQB tactics and and how to approach and engage targets behind closed doors safely.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you I just moved to NY. As far as CQB your best bet is to use an old shed or barn that you can practice in and start by practicing entry techniques. There are many different ways to enter a building all based on the type of building, placement of the door, size of your team and weaponry available to you and each one takes hours of practice to be able to execute well. A simple one to start with is to stack your team one behind the other on one side of the door and once all your members are in plce the rear man will give the go command by either tapping the guy in front of him or by bumping him with his knee, this motion being repeated up the line to the front man who then enters the door. Once inside, the front man goes either left or right down the wall with the men behind him alternating directions move ultimately fanning out through the room on line with each other to prevent friendly fire. Work on this one and once you have it down you can start developing a method that works best for you and then move on to more advanced techniques.
